Valladolid, the geographical, political and cultural centre of the Autonomous Region of Castilla-León
Steeped in history, Valladolid is a city of great cultural and monumental importance. Amongst other historical events, it was here that the marriage of the Catholic Monarchs took place. The famous navigator Christopher Columbus lived and died here. Kings Philip II and Philip IV were born in Valladolid, which in the early 17th century was the capital of Spain. Cervantes, the creator of the immortal Don Quixote, lived here, as did, centuries later, José Zorrilla, author of the mythical Don Juan Tenorio.
Above all, however, Valladolid can boast a linguistic heritage that few figures in the world of the arts would question:
"IT IS THE CITY IN SPAIN WHERE ONE CAN HEAR, LEARN AND SPEAK THE BEST SPANISH IN THE WORLD".
Visitors to Valladolid are attracted not only by its history, art, culture and language, but also by the fact that it is a young, dynamic and modern city which, although in a process of constant development, still retains the peaceful atmosphere of a provincial town.
The local youth, including a large community of university students, make the nightlife and traditional festivities or fiestas of Valladolid an exciting, carefree experience.
Every bit as important as the grammar classes, in our opinion, are the complementary activities that we carry out with our students, twice a week, in order to give them an insight into the history, art and the life of our city.
At the beginning of each month, a cultural activity programme is put together. Activities are always carried out in the company of a qualified teacher.
Transport and museum entrance fee are already included in the course fee!

At our school of Spanish in Valladolid, we are convinced that choosing appropriate accommodation is very important for students to make the most of their stay and the language course they have chosen. In our experience, the best option is to live with a Spanish host family, a unique, enriching experience that immerses students not only in the Spanish language but also in everyday local life.
However, we are also aware that some students prefer other types of accommodation. Our language school offers students the following accommodation options in Valladolid during their course:
Host family accommodation All the families that take in students from our school of Spanish in Valladolid have undergone a strict selection process and almost all of them have looked after our students for several years. As a result, they are used to living with people from different countries and with different customs, which means they offer students pleasant, family surroundings.
All the families live less than 20 minutes’ walking distance from the school and offer students a single room with a place for study and participation in everyday family life.
Our Spanish language school offers two options for host family accommodation:
- Single room and half board (breakfast and main meal), Monday to Friday. - Single room and full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner), seven days of the week. This option also includes a weekly laundry service.
Mealtimes are as set by the family. You will also learn a little about Spanish cuisine, which is another way of integrating in the country’s culture. If you have special dietary needs, please let us know beforehand so we can tell the family.
Hotel or Hostel accommodation On some occasions, students prefer hotel or hostel accommodation. If this is the case, our school of Spanish in Valladolid makes your reservation for you. Please let us know beforehand, particularly at certain times of the year, so that we can help you with your reservation.
There are many establishments, depending on category, location and quality. If you prefer this type of accommodation, we will be pleased to send you detailed information about several establishments so that you can choose the one that best suits your requirements.
Residences Another interesting option is student residence accommodation. Our language school offers this option for the summer months and, in particular, for our summer courses and group courses. The residences we offer are quite near the school, approximately 15 minutes’ walking distance away. They have sports installations, reading rooms, study rooms, video library, etc. All of them offer single or double rooms.
Own apartments As with hotel and hostel accommodation, please let us know beforehand. The sooner you make your reservation, the easier it is.
Prices vary in accordance with the area in the city and the type of apartment.
