The origins of Santiago de Compostela date back to 10th century. It is a beautiful city with a great artistic and historic value. It is a UNESCOs World Cultural Heritage, as it is the Way that leads there, and with one of the largest and best preserved historic districts in Spain. It is surrounded by a large group of easy-access parks and green areas, all of them very well integrated in the city.

Our school of Spanish in Santiago de Compostela organizes at least 2 free activities weekly. In the summer the average is of 4 activities a week:

● The first day we invite the students to a guided tour around the city followed by tapas in the historic district. This activity is carried out if there are at least 5 students beginning the course.
● Visits to museums, exhibitions, historic buildings.
● Attending to concerts, cinema, theatre…
● Commented movies.

THE LANGUAGE SCHOOL

Our Spanish language school in Santiago de Compostela was founded in 1994. The school is very centrally located at a 2-minute walk from the historic district of the city, very close to the Cathedral. It is a small, family-like school managed directly by the owners.

The school in Santiago offers 6 classrooms and an area with 11 computers with free Internet access for students. Furthermore, there is wi-fi connection available in all the facilities.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Arrival: Sunday
Depature: Saturday

Family accommodation: Selected by the school after a personal interview. The criteria for selection are: comfort and cleanness in homes, kindness and friendliness of the hosts and proximity to the school.
Half Board (breakfast + lunch or dinner) or Full Board.

Shared flats: Available year-round. Double or single rooms, equipped with a desk and heating. They have a washing machine and fully equipped kitchen. Cleaning service once a week in common areas; students must clean their own bedrooms. Bed linen and towels are NOT provided, so students must bring their own.

Hotels: The School can book rooms in hotels of different prices and categories. All of them are very centrally located either in the New or in the Old Town. Please ask for a list of hotels, with prices and contact details.

>> TEACHING METHODS

Our teaching methods are based on the communicative approach. Special emphasis is placed on conversation, so that students can make themselves understood in Spanish right from the start. We think it is essential for the students to actively participate in the lessons; to achieve this main goal, grammar exercises and vocabulary work are combined with oral practice and pronunciation drills: group work, discussions, role playing, games, literary & journalistic texts, audio & video recordings of real material...

:: INTENSIVE COURSES

>> Course 20h
Daily: 4 lessons
Levels: all

This course focuses on language fluency as a main goal. The four major skills students will practice are reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students are active participants and learn Spanish grammar, vocabulary and common expressions by working and speaking with their classmates.

>> Course 25h
Daily: 5 lessons

Same structure as the Course 20, but with 5 extra lessons per week, focused on improving oral communication in Spanish.

>> LEVELS

On the first day of school, students who already have some previous knowledge of Spanish will be level-tested to ensure correct placement from the beginning. Lessons start immediately after the test.

All levels are offered from Beginners to Advanced. Our 7 levels follow the European Framework of Reference for Languages and the guidelines of Instituto Cervantes.

Students completing their courses successfully will be granted the diploma and academic report which certifies the type of course, the number of hours studied and the level of proficiency attained.

:: TAYLOR MADE COURSES

>> One-to-one / private tuition

From 2 to 6 hours of class per day (x 60 minutes) in order to focus only on the students needs. In the first lesson, the teacher assesses the students abilities, and together they plan the objectives of the course to maximize the progress.

>> Course 25+5h / Course 25+15h
Daily: 6/8 lessons

25 group lessons + 5 or 15 one-to-one hours (x 60 minutes), dedicated to work on those aspects of the language that need to be reinforced or to improve oral communication skills. This course is approved as Bildungsurlaub in Germany.

Our school in Santiago de Compostela is a foundation member of AGAES, the Galician Association of Schools of Spanish and an Accredited Centre by Instituto Cervantes.

All our teachers are native speakers who have finished their university education. With a great deal of experience in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, they can use a variety of teaching methods and materials, always according to the students needs.
